A Dhaka court on Monday denied bail to 27 people detained after allegedly entering the central office of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad) in Paltan and creating an allegedly disorderly situation while chanting “Joy Bangla”.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter passed the order after hearing arguments from both sides.

The detainees were shown arrested under Section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and sent to jail following an application by the investigating officer, Paltan Model Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Nazmul Islam, on Sunday night.

Defence lawyers subsequently filed bail petitions, while the prosecution opposed the pleas.

The court had earlier fixed Monday for the bail hearing and ordered the 27 to be sent to jail.

After hearing both sides on Monday, the judge rejected the bail applications.

The case involves allegations that the group entered the Jasad office in Paltan and chanted slogans, creating an unstable and disorderly environment. The allegations have not been established by a court.
