The parliamentary seat of Ferdousi Ahmed Misti, a reserved-seat woman MP of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, has been declared vacant following her resignation on Thursday (October 1).

The Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat confirmed the matter in a notice, saying Ferdousi Ahmed, MP for reserved women’s seat-23, resigned on October 1, 2026, corresponding to 16 Ashwin 1433 in the Bengali calendar.

According to the notice, the seat became vacant on the same date in accordance with Article 67(2) of the Constitution.

Ferdousi Ahmed came into the spotlight following allegations of her involvement in an attack, looting and vandalism at the Radda MCH-FP health centre in Mirpur, Dhaka.

She submitted her resignation letter to Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed at around noon on Thursday.

Ferdousi Ahmed took oath as a member of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad from reserved women’s seat-23 in May 2026.
