Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s political assistant Rashed Khan has released a video on social media in support of his allegation that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar held a secret meeting with a senior Indian intelligence official.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday evening, October 27, Rashed claimed that Parwar and members of a Jamaat delegation left the meeting in a vehicle.
However, he did not specify when the video was recorded or provide independently verifiable details identifying the people shown in it.
Rashed had first raised the allegation in a Facebook post on October 26, claiming that the meeting took place on October 16 at a house in Baridhara, Dhaka, after Maghrib prayers.
He alleged that Parwar, Jamaat leader ATM Masum and another person attended the meeting with a senior Indian intelligence official.
Questioning the purpose of the alleged meeting, Rashed argued that meeting an Indian diplomat was different from holding talks with a senior intelligence official.
He called on Parwar to clarify the matter and alleged that Jamaat was planning political agitation in coordination with the Awami League.
Parwar has denied the allegation, describing it as entirely false and fabricated. He challenged Rashed to produce evidence to support his claims.
Rashed, meanwhile, has insisted that the meeting took place and said Parwar could file a defamation case against him if the allegation was false.
The video released by Rashed has not, by itself, independently established that the alleged meeting took place or confirmed the identities of those involved.
