Bangladesh had little time to rest after their historic nine-wicket victory over Australia as the team arrived in Mackay on Tuesday for the second and final Test of the series.
The journey from Darwin to Mackay, which normally takes around six hours, took nearly 14 hours due to flight delays.
The Bangladesh team was scheduled to fly from Darwin at around 5am local time. Players and coaching staff reached the airport on time, but a prolonged flight delay left them waiting for hours. The team eventually arrived in Mackay shortly before 7pm.
The long journey left visible signs of fatigue among the players, with most looking exhausted as they left Mackay Airport. All members of the squad travelled on the same flight.
The team will now turn its attention to the second Test, which begins on August 22 at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay. Bangladesh lead the two-match series 1-0 after their nine-wicket win over Australia in the opening Test in Darwin.
Bangladesh now have an opportunity to secure a historic series victory, while Australia will look to bounce back on home soil and level the series.
The Test will also be historic for Mackay, as the Great Barrier Reef Arena is set to host its first men’s international Test match. Mackay will become the 12th Test venue in Australia.
The match has generated significant interest among local fans, with tickets for the opening day already sold out and those for the second day nearly gone.
The five-day Test will run from August 22 to 26, with play scheduled to begin at 6am Bangladesh time each day.
