The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming two-Test series against Australia, with wicketkeeper-batter Jaker Ali and uncapped pacer Mushfik Hasan emerging as the biggest surprises.
Jaker returns to the Test squad after a year away from the national team. His recall comes as regular wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das has been ruled out of the first Test, starting on August 13 in Darwin, due to injury.
The 27-year-old has played six Tests since making his debut in October 2024, scoring 337 runs at an average of 30.63, including four half-centuries. His highest Test score is 91, while he is still awaiting his maiden century in the format.
The squad also features young fast bowler Mushfik Hasan, who earns his first Test call-up. His inclusion follows the absence of pacer Nahid Rana, who has already been ruled out of the series.
Bangladesh Test squad: Nazmul Hossain (captain), Soumya Sarkar, Shadman Islam, Tanzid Hasan, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Amit Hasan, Jaker Ali, Mehidy Hasan Miraz (vice-captain), Taijul Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Khaled Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain and Mushfik Hasan.
