The Bangladesh football team arrived in Jakarta on Sunday morning to begin preparations for the FIFA ASEAN Cup, which kicks off on September 25.
The red-and-green delegation reached the Indonesian capital on a Singapore Airlines flight after a three-hour transit in Singapore.
Bangladesh had planned to arrive in Indonesia five days before the tournament to give the players time to recover from the long journey and adjust to the local weather, time zone and conditions.
The players will take some rest after their arrival before beginning training at 7pm on Sunday. From September 22, Bangladesh will use the training ground designated by FIFA. Until then, the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has arranged an alternative training venue, ensuring preparations can begin without interruption.
However, head coach Thomas Duli does not yet have his full squad. Hamza Choudhury, Shamit Som and Farhan Ali Ohed were not on the flight with the rest of the team. They are scheduled to leave for Indonesia on Sunday and join the squad on September 21.
With their arrival, Duli will have all 23 players available for the tournament.
Bangladesh will open their ASEAN Cup campaign against Malaysia on September 25. They will then face Singapore on September 28 before taking on hosts Indonesia on October 1.
The Bangladesh team will use the next few days in Jakarta to recover, train and adapt to the conditions ahead of their three group-stage matches.
