Indonesia thrashed Bangladesh 9-2 in their final Group A match of the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on Thursday, ending Bangladesh’s campaign without a point.
Mitchell Baker was the star for Indonesia, scoring five goals. Rizky Ridho, Justin Hubner, Luke Vickery and Kevin Diks also found the net, while Shahriar Emon and Farhaan Ali Wahid scored Bangladesh’s two goals.
Indonesia took control early, with Baker opening the scoring in the 11th minute before doubling the lead nine minutes later. Ridho made it 3-0 in the 32nd minute.
Bangladesh pulled one back in the 36th minute when Emon headed home from a cross, but Baker completed his hat-trick a minute later and added another goal in the 42nd minute.
Hubner then headed home in stoppage time as Indonesia went into the break 6-1 ahead.
Bangladesh held Indonesia at bay for much of the second half, but the hosts scored three more times in the closing minutes.
Vickery made it 7-1 in the 90th minute, before Farhaan pulled one back for Bangladesh. Diks and Baker then scored in stoppage time to complete the 9-2 victory.
The result sent Indonesia into the ASEAN Cup final, while Bangladesh finished bottom of the group after earlier defeats to Malaysia and Singapore.
