India on Thursday successfully test-fired its nuclear-capable Agni-4 medium-range ballistic missile with a strike range of 4,000 km, officials said.
The missile was launched from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, in the eastern state of Odisha, under the supervision of the Strategic Forces Command (SFC).
According to India’s Ministry of Defence, the user trial successfully validated all operational and technical parameters, reaffirming the missile’s reliability and operational readiness.
Developed under India’s indigenous missile programme, the two-stage, solid-fuel Agni-4 is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead and forms a key component of the country’s strategic deterrence.
The successful launch marks another milestone in India’s efforts to strengthen its long-range strike capability and maintain a credible minimum nuclear deterrent.
Defence officials said the test underscores the country’s growing technological capabilities and strategic preparedness.
