The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has found significant differences in mobile network performance among the country’s four operators in its July 2026 Quality of Service (QoS) assessment.
For the first time, BTRC independently verified and reconciled operator-submitted data at national, district and upazila levels.
Banglalink led private operators in 4G performance, recording an average download speed of 8.607 Mbps and the lowest data-session drop rate of 0.0911%. It achieved compliance with major KPIs in all 64 districts.
Grameenphone also maintained strong nationwide performance, meeting major KPI targets across all 64 districts, with an average 4G download speed of 8.226 Mbps.
Robi recorded the best voice performance among private operators, posting the lowest 2G call-drop rate at 0.2405%. However, its 4G download speed was lower at 6.848 Mbps, while it missed the 2G call-setup target in 24 upazilas.
State-owned Teletalk performed weakest overall. Its reported 4G speed of 11.2 Mbps could not be independently verified because of incomplete raw data. It also failed the 4G RRC target in 401 of 537 assessed upazilas.
BTRC said the assessment marks a shift toward independently verifiable QoS data. It has instructed operators to conduct drive tests and optimise networks in areas where weaknesses were identified.
