A 39-member delegation of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), led by its President Taskeen Ahmed, will visit Kuala Lumpur from September 22 to 25 to explore opportunities to expand bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and Malaysia.
The delegation will also seek to increase exports of promising Bangladeshi products to the Malaysian market and attract Malaysian investment to Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia is providing comprehensive support for the delegation’s activities during the visit.
The DCCI delegation will hold trade discussions and participate in business-to-business (B2B) sessions with the Klang Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers and the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia on September 23, 24 and 25 respectively.
Through the business matchmaking sessions, Bangladeshi entrepreneurs will have opportunities to explore new avenues for expanding bilateral trade and investment.
The delegation will also participate in the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2026, one of the world’s largest international trade exhibitions for halal products, in Kuala Lumpur on September 24.
The participation will provide Bangladeshi businesses with opportunities to explore trade and investment partnerships with entrepreneurs from Malaysia and other countries involved in the halal industry.
During the visit, DCCI leaders are also scheduled to pay courtesy calls on Malaysian Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Tiong King Sing and Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying.
According to DCCI, Bangladeshis account for 37% of Malaysia’s total foreign workforce and sent $3.40 billion in remittances to Bangladesh in the 2025-26 fiscal year.
Bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Malaysia stood at around $2.57 billion in the 2024-25 fiscal year. Bangladesh imported goods worth $2.293 billion from Malaysia and exported goods worth $282 million during the period.
Malaysian entrepreneurs have already invested $755.48 million in Bangladesh, with telecommunications, power, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, construction and textiles among the major sectors receiving investment.
The DCCI delegation is scheduled to return to Dhaka on September 25.
