7 October 2026 18:41 Updated: 7 October 2026 18:57

The government has approved the import of 40,000 tonnes of diammonium phosphate (DAP) fertiliser from Morocco to ensure adequate supplies for farmers.

The fertiliser will be imported from OCP Nutricrops, Morocco, under a government-to-government arrangement with the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC).

The consignment will be transported from Morocco’s Jorf Lasfar port to Bangladesh.

The latest procurement is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to maintain sufficient fertiliser stocks for agricultural production.

The Bangladesh Shipping Corporation has also initiated arrangements for transporting the 40,000-tonne consignment to Bangladesh.

The government has been regularly importing DAP from Morocco under the existing G2G arrangement to ensure an uninterrupted supply of fertiliser to farmers.
