An Air India flight from Frankfurt, Germany, to New Delhi made an emergency landing in Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Wednesday after a hijack alert was received.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, operating as flight AI-2030, landed safely at Jaipur International Airport at around 9:45am local time, Indian media outlet NDTV reported, citing the IANS news agency.
Jaipur is around 280km from New Delhi, the flight’s scheduled destination.
Airport authorities immediately activated the highest level of security protocols for a potential aircraft hijacking. Security personnel from various agencies boarded the aircraft after landing and began a thorough search.
Officials confirmed that all passengers and crew members were safe. Passengers were allowed to disembark using stairs after the aircraft had been searched and received security clearance.
Air India said affected passengers would be offered free rebooking on subsequent flights. Those wishing to cancel their journeys would receive full refunds.
