The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 491 people during a 24-hour operation across the capital. A total of 39 cases were filed against them at various police stations in the city. The operations were conducted from midnight Wednesday to midnight Thursday.
DMP Additional Deputy Commissioner Niaz Mehedi confirmed the information on Friday.
According to a DMP press release issued today, 20 people were arrested in Ramna, 41 in Lalbagh, 48 in Wari, 48 in Motijheel, 59 in Tejgaon, 156 in Mirpur, 59 in Gulshan, 56 in Uttara, and four by the DMP Detective Branch.
During the operations, police recovered one foreign-made revolver, one bullet, four bullet casings, 10,071 yaba tablets, 120 grams of cannabis, 44 grams of heroin, one Chinese axe, one hasua (sickle), one GI pipe, one monitor, one CPU, and six mobile phones.
In the previous 24-hour period—from midnight Tuesday to midnight Wednesday—the DMP had arrested 560 people in similar operations across the capital.
