The US Senate on Friday passed a sweeping sanctions package aimed at curbing Russia’s energy revenues and putting further pressure on Moscow.
The legislation now moves to the House of Representatives for consideration.
However, a vote is unlikely before early September as Congress is currently in its summer recess.
