At least 11 people, including children, were killed and 19 others injured after a fire tore through a state-run child welfare home in eastern Algiers early Thursday, authorities said.
The blaze erupted around 3:30am local time at the Childhood Relief Institution in Mohammadia, a residential facility that shelters orphans, abandoned children, and minors with special needs.
