A Dhaka court has set September 23 for submitting the investigation report in a case involving alleged share market manipulation, fraud, and money laundering against 15 individuals, including former Bangladesh cricket captain Shakib Al Hasan.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Shahjahan Kabir passed the order after the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) failed to submit its report on time.

The case was filed on June 17, 2025, by ACC Assistant Director Sajjad Hossain. Alongside Shakib, the accused include several individuals from different professional backgrounds, among them a deputy registrar of the Department of Cooperatives and multiple business associates.

According to the allegation, the accused manipulated stock prices by carrying out coordinated and illegal serial transactions through their beneficiary owner (BO) accounts.

Investigators allege that the group engaged in fraudulent trading practices, including speculative and gambling-like activities, to artificially inflate share prices.

Through these fraudulent activities, an estimated Tk 256.97 crore was allegedly siphoned off, which investigators have identified as proceeds of crime.

The case remains under investigation, with the ACC expected to submit detailed findings in the next hearing.
