Stephen Karpin, regional president for Asia Pacific at Visa Inc., arrived in Bangladesh on Monday for a three-day visit aimed at strengthening the country’s fast-growing digital payments ecosystem.
In a statement issued on 10 August, Visa said the visit highlights Bangladesh’s rising importance within its Asia-Pacific strategy and the country’s continued momentum as a digital economy.
Karpin is accompanied by Suresh Sethi and is scheduled to meet senior representatives from government, banks, fintech firms, and the wider business community.
The discussions will focus on expanding digital commerce, enhancing payment security, and supporting the next phase of financial innovation in Bangladesh. Industry stakeholders are expected to explore ways to accelerate the adoption of secure, seamless payment technologies across sectors.
As Visa’s Asia-Pacific chief, Karpin oversees operations across one of the world’s most dynamic regions, leading efforts in digital payments, cross-border commerce, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
Bangladesh has emerged as a high-growth market for digital finance, driven by rapid adoption of mobile financial services, a booming e-commerce sector, and ongoing investment in financial infrastructure.
Visa said the visit reflects its long-term commitment to supporting the country’s digital transformation and fostering a resilient, inclusive payments ecosystem.
