The 2027 Bishwa Ijtema will be held in two phases, with the first phase scheduled for January 8–10 and the second phase for January 15–17.
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed disclosed the dates at a briefing at the Secretariat on Thursday afternoon.
He said followers of Zubair would attend the first phase, while followers of Saad would participate in the second. The dates were finalised after discussions with both sides.
The home minister also said the Ministry of Religious Affairs would handle the issue of Maulana Saad’s arrival in Bangladesh in accordance with the country’s visa policy.
He said the relevant authorities would take necessary preparations to ensure security, law and order, transportation and other arrangements for the gathering.
The annual Bishwa Ijtema, one of the largest gatherings of Muslims, is held on the banks of the Turag River in Tongi, Gazipur, drawing a large number of devotees from home and abroad. The event is generally organised in two phases by the two factions of Tabligh Jamaat.
