Faruk Ahmed assumes charge as highway Police Chief

Additional Inspector General (Additional IGP) of Police Faruk Ahmed on Tuesday officially assumed charge as the chief of the Highway Police.

According to a Police Headquarters press release, Faruk Ahmed was born on July 29, 1971, in Bogura district.

He graduated in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET).

He joined the Bangladesh Police as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on February 22, 1998, through the 17th Bangladesh Civil Service (Police) cadre.

Faruk Ahmed was promoted to the rank of Additional Inspector General of Police on June 4 this year.

Throughout his distinguished career, he has served in various key positions within the Bangladesh Police and has participated in numerous professional training programmes, seminars and experience-sharing initiatives at both home and abroad, enriching his expertise in modern policing and law enforcement.

Police Headquarters expressed confidence that his extensive experience and leadership will further strengthen the operational efficiency and service delivery of the Highway Police.
