Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a bilateral meeting with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres at the UN headquarters in New York on Thursday on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
The meeting, held on the 27th floor of the UN Secretariat Building, focused on Bangladesh-UN cooperation, major global and regional issues and matters of mutual interest.
The two leaders discussed Bangladesh’s development, the impacts of climate change, a sustainable solution to the Rohingya crisis, and Bangladesh’s continued contributions to UN peace, security and development efforts.
Tarique highlighted the importance of UN cooperation and support on issues concerning Bangladesh’s national priorities and interests.
He also reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to multilateralism, international cooperation, peace and sustainable development.
Guterres stressed the importance of further advancing the longstanding partnership between Bangladesh and the United Nations.
Both sides expressed their commitment to continuing mutual cooperation and working closely to address common global challenges.
