Dhaka: A total of 548 people were arrested in a regular drive conducted by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) across the capital over the past 24 hours. During the same period, 51 cases were filed.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Md. Akter Hossain disclosed the information on Friday (September 25) morning.
He said the arrests were made during raids in various police station areas of the capital, during which various evidence and narcotics were also recovered. Legal proceedings against those arrested are underway.
According to Akter Hossain, the arrests included 31 in the Ramna division, 44 in Lalbagh, 54 in Wari, 75 in Motijheel, 96 in Tejgaon, 92 in Mirpur, 46 in Gulshan, 93 in Uttara, 16 by the Detective Branch (DB), and one by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) division.
During the operations, police recovered 36.1 kilograms of cannabis, 17,345 yaba tablets, 50 Tapentadol tablets, one motorcycle, 10 mobile phones, and rescued one victim.
