DHAKA: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 428 people during a 24-hour operation across the capital. A total of 79 cases were also filed during the same period.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Md Akter Hossain confirmed the information on Friday morning.
He said police conducted raids in different areas of Dhaka and made the arrests while recovering various items of evidence and narcotics. Legal proceedings against those arrested are underway.
The arrests were made by different DMP divisions as follows: Ramna Division: 42, Lalbagh Division: 41, Wari Division: 46,- Motijheel Division: 39, Tejgaon Division: 62, Mirpur Division: 118, Gulshan Division: 36, Uttara Division: 38, Detective Branch: 5, Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC): 1.
During the operations, police recovered two switchblade knives, 386 yaba tablets, 7.96 kilograms of cannabis, two motorcycles, five mobile phones, one SSD card and one laptop.
