Three Bangladesh cricketers—Saif Hassan, Towhid Hridoy and Rishad Hossain—could be fined by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for allegedly breaching team discipline during the Asian Games.
The three players reportedly travelled between cities without informing or seeking permission from the team management during the Games, which the BCB is treating as a disciplinary violation.
The issue came to the board’s attention after Bangladesh’s Asian Games campaign ended without the expected gold medal. The BCB has decided to take action against the players, although it has yet to make any official announcement.
According to sources, each player could face a fine of between Tk 100,000 and Tk 200,000 if the disciplinary action is imposed.
Bangladesh captain Litton Das, however, offered an explanation for the players’ movements, saying the food provided at the Asian Games was sometimes unsuitable for consumption.
“When the food provided at the Asian Games is not fit to eat, we have to go outside to eat,” Litton said.
The BCB has yet to formally disclose details of the alleged violations or confirm the amount of any fines.
