JHENAIDAH: Prime Minister’s Political Assistant Rashed Khan has alleged that Jamaat-e-Islami has joined forces with the activities-banned Awami League to conspire against the BNP government.
He made the remarks on Thursday afternoon while responding to journalists’ questions after inaugurating a free medical camp at Abubakar Biswas Moksed Ali College in Chaprail, Kaliganj upazila.
Khan said the Awami League and Jamaat were conspiring to create chaos in the country, as they had done in 1996.
Asked whether the opposition had encouraged a young man who posted on Facebook threatening to assassinate the prime minister with a sniper rifle during the latter’s visit to Rajshahi, Khan alleged that the youth had dared to make such a threat at the opposition’s instigation.
Former senior joint convener of Kaliganj Upazila BNP Hamidul Islam Hamid, Joint Member Secretary Ilias Rahman Mithu, college principal Moshiar Rahman and people from various professions attended the event.
