Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has interacted with a holographic avatar of late spiritual guru Swami Chinmayananda, seeking his blessings for his future endeavours. Modi became emotional upon seeing the guru’s digitally recreated presence.
Modi inaugurated the ‘Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav Global Conference’ in New Delhi last Friday to mark the 75th anniversary of Chinmaya Mission. During the event, he held a conversation with the holographic avatar of Swami Chinmayananda.
“I had the good fortune of meeting you. I seek your blessings for the work I wish to undertake now,” Modi said.
In response, the holographic avatar expressed happiness over Modi’s rise as prime minister and voiced its support, saying, “India is with you, Narendra.”
At the event, Modi described the experience as a unique spiritual encounter. Expressing gratitude for the blessings of saints and spiritual leaders, he said Chinmaya Mission represents not just an institution but also the ‘Chinmaya spirit’.
Explaining the significance of the event, Modi said the word ‘Chinmaya’ symbolises immortality. Therefore, the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav Global Conference, held at Bharat Mandapam, carries special significance.
Noting how technology had made the experience more vivid, he said, “Seeing Chinmayaji’s divine presence through the hologram felt as if I had travelled back 33 years.”
Recalling his meeting with Swami Chinmayananda in 1993, Modi said the guru’s affection and blessings seemed to have come alive once again. The moment was deeply emotional for him.
“For a moment, I felt as if I had returned to that time. It was an extremely emotional moment for me,” he said, thanking Chinmaya Mission for organising the event.
