DHAKA: A murder case has been filed against unidentified individuals over the death of former Bangladesh Air Force officer KM Tahsif Sauri, 28. His father, KM Enayetul Karim, filed the case with Uttarkhan Police Station in the capital on Friday night.

Meanwhile, Naval Police have taken Ahmed Shahriar Reza Dip, described as a younger friend of Tahsif, into custody for questioning in connection with the incident.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Uttara Division) Md Rezaul Karim confirmed the matter on Saturday morning.

Rezaul Karim said the case was filed over allegations that Tahsif was murdered and his body dumped in a river to conceal the crime. Unidentified individuals have been named as the accused. Naval Police took Dip from the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) for questioning, he added.

The murder case was filed on Friday night, two days after Tahsif’s body was recovered from the Turag River.

Former Flight Lieutenant Tahsif left his residence in Uttara on Tuesday evening. At 1:35am, he sent a text message to his mother saying he was returning home. However, he never returned.

On Wednesday afternoon, Naval Police recovered his body from the Turag River. Initially, the body was unidentified, but police later established his identity using the iPhone found with him.

The PBI said CCTV footage from Tuesday evening, before Tahsif went missing, showed him meeting a man downstairs at their residential building. Family members identified the man as Dip, a friend of Tahsif.
