A Dhaka court has issued an arrest warrant against actress Pori Moni in a case involving vandalism at the Savar Boat Club, assault, attempted murder and intimidation of its president, businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman passed the order on Wednesday (November 4).
Nasir Uddin filed the case with the court on July 6, 2022, accusing Pori Moni and her two associates, Fatema Tuz Jannat Boni and Junaed Baghdadi Jimmy.
On January 26, 2025, the court framed charges and ordered the start of the trial. As Pori Moni was absent from the hearing that day, an arrest warrant was issued against her. She subsequently secured bail.
According to the case statement, Pori Moni and her associates entered the Savar Boat Club after midnight on June 8, 2021, and consumed alcohol. They allegedly sought to take bottles of liquor free of charge, but when their request was refused, Pori Moni allegedly vandalised the club.
The complaint further alleges that at around 1:15am, as Nasir Uddin was leaving the club, Pori Moni called him over and pressured him to provide a bottle of Blue Label whisky free of charge.
When he refused, an altercation reportedly broke out. Pori Moni allegedly hurled a serving glass and her mobile phone at him, injuring his head and chest.
Meanwhile, on June 14, 2021, Pori Moni filed a case with Savar Police Station against Nasir Uddin Mahmud and his friend Omi, accusing them of attempted rape and murder. A separate drug-related case was also filed against the actress.
