Bangladesh’s Election Commission (EC) has published the electoral roll for the country’s 23rd presidential election, listing 349 lawmakers as eligible voters.
The gazette notification was issued on Thursday night by EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed.
According to the gazette, the electoral college consists of 299 members elected to general parliamentary seats and 50 members from reserved seats for women. The Chattogram-4 constituency has been excluded from the list after the High Court annulled the election of its winning candidate.
Under the election schedule announced by the EC, nomination papers must be submitted to the returning officer between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm on August 13.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on August 16, while the deadline for withdrawal of candidatures is August 18.
Voting will be held in the Jatiya Sangsad chamber on August 20 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm to elect Bangladesh’s 23rd president.
