A fire broke out at a garment factory in Gazipur on Saturday afternoon, with nine firefighting units working to bring the blaze under control.
The fire broke out on the third floor of the eight-storey Matrix Garments building at Fakir Market in Degir Chala area at around 2:44pm, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Firefighters have so far safely evacuated 69 people who were trapped inside the building. No casualties have been reported so far.
The Fire Service received the information at around 2:45pm and dispatched several units to the scene, located about five kilometres from the relevant fire station.
Firefighters reached the factory at around 3:00pm and began efforts to contain the blaze.
Three units from Gazipur Chowrasta Modern Fire Station, one from Konabari Fire Station, three from Gazipur Fire Station and two from Rajendrapur Fire Station are currently working at the scene.
