The Bandarban district administration has extended the closure of all tourist destinations and the travel ban until July 15 due to incessant rain, rising river levels and the risk of landslides.

In a notice issued on Friday night, District Commissioner Md Saniul Ferdous said all tourist spots, waterfalls, trekking trails, river routes and other high-risk areas will remain off-limits to tourists and the public until next Wednesday.

Days of heavy rainfall have swollen the Sangu and Matamuhuri rivers, disrupting road links with Chattogram and Rangamati.

Authorities have also opened 220 shelters across seven upazilas amid fears of floods and landslides.
