Bangladesh and Vietnam have agreed to work towards increasing bilateral trade to $2 billion, while exploring new areas of economic cooperation and partnership.
The issue came up during a farewell meeting between Bangladesh Ambassador to Vietnam Mohammad Lutfur Rahman and Vietnamese President and General Secretary of the Communist Party To Lam at the Presidential Office in Hanoi on Sunday.
According to the Bangladesh Embassy in Hanoi, the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen their long-standing friendly relations and multifaceted partnership.
They reviewed progress in various areas of bilateral cooperation, including expanding economic ties, facilitating high-level visits and enhancing coordination under regional cooperation frameworks.
The meeting also focused on increasing bilateral trade to $2 billion, expanding economic cooperation, facilitating collaboration in tourism and identifying new areas of partnership.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the historic friendship between Bangladesh and Vietnam and advancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Ambassador Lutfur Rahman expressed gratitude to the Vietnamese government for its support during his tenure in strengthening relations between the two countries.
The meeting reflected a positive outlook on further expanding Bangladesh-Vietnam ties and cooperation.
