HANOI: Bangladesh and Vietnam have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and raising two-way trade to US$2 billion, according to the Bangladesh Embassy in Hanoi.
The issue was discussed during a farewell meeting between Vietnamese President and Communist Party General Secretary To Lam and Bangladesh’s outgoing Ambassador to Vietnam Mohammad Lutfor Rahman at the President’s Office in Hanoi.
The two sides reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation and discussed ways to expand economic relations, increase high-level visits and enhance coordination under regional cooperation frameworks.
They also placed emphasis on facilitating cooperation in the tourism sector and exploring new areas of partnership.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to further deepening the longstanding friendly relations and multifaceted partnership between Bangladesh and Vietnam.
Rahman expressed gratitude to the Vietnamese government for its support and cooperation in strengthening bilateral relations during his tenure.
The meeting reflected a positive approach from both sides toward issues of mutual interest.
