Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi has assured that steps are being taken to simplify the Indian visa application process for Bangladeshis.

He gave the assurance during a courtesy meeting with a delegation of the Indian Media Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (IMCAB), at the Indian High Commission’s conference room in Baridhara, Dhaka, at 11:30am on Thursday (October 22).

The delegation was led by IMCAB President Shaheen Chowdhury and included General Secretary Masum Billah and other executive committee members.

During the meeting, the delegation highlighted the difficulties faced by Bangladeshis in obtaining Indian visas.

In response, Trivedi said the high commission was examining the problems and working to make the process easier, particularly for people seeking to travel to India for medical treatment.

He said officials were trying to identify the reasons for delays in securing appointments to submit visa applications in person after completing the online application process. He expressed hope that the problem would be resolved soon.

Emphasising the importance of people-to-people contact, the high commissioner said increased travel between the two countries would strengthen friendship and mutual understanding.

The delegation also included Basudeb Dhar, Kuddus Afrad, Mir Afroz Zaman, Abu Ali, Aminul Haque Bhuiyan, Nirmal Chakrabarty, Zakir Hossain and Monir Hossain. First Secretary of the Indian High Commission Gokul Vike was also present.
