The government has announced the joining date for candidates finally selected under the Government Primary School Assistant Teacher Recruitment-2025. The newly recruited teachers will officially join their respective district primary education offices on October 1.
The announcement was made in a notification issued on Sunday by the School-2 Branch of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
According to the notification, candidates selected against vacant posts under the 2025 recruitment process will receive their appointment letters in due course. After joining, they will be posted to schools and later undergo professional training.
The decision follows an emergency virtual meeting on teacher recruitment held at the ministry on Saturday.
Earlier, Primary and Mass Education Secretary Md Sakhawat Hossain said the government was prioritizing the appointment of 14,384 recommended assistant teachers, adding that the process had been delayed due to investigations and procedural complexities.
Sunday’s notification supersedes the earlier indication that joining might take place later, confirming October 1 as the official joining date.
Meanwhile, the recommended candidates continued their movement, holding a sit-in programme in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh in Dhaka on Sunday, demanding swift posting in accordance with the Primary School Recruitment Rules-2025.
The teachers have also demanded that the government issue a formal office order on its official website specifying the joining and posting dates. They said they would not rely on verbal assurances or media statements and vowed to continue their previously announced protest programme until their demands are formally met.
