The Dhaka Education Board has scheduled a retake for HSC candidates who could not sit for the July 13 examinations due to heavy rainfall and waterlogging.
The special examination will be held at 10:00am on August 24 at Begum Badrunnesa Government Girls’ College in Dhaka.
Students who missed the Physics First Paper, Accounting First Paper and Logic First Paper examinations will be eligible to sit for the retake after completing re-registration.
In a notice issued Thursday night (August 20), the Dhaka Education Board asked candidates to arrive at the examination centre by 9:30am.
Earlier, students who were unable to attend the July 13 examinations due to adverse weather were given an opportunity to re-register.
The HSC and equivalent examinations began on July 2. Following floods, heavy rain and waterlogging, the Chattogram Education Board postponed its examinations.
Students in other parts of the country also demanded that the July 13 examinations be postponed due to the weather.
Students staged road blockades and protests in Dhaka and elsewhere over the issue. At one point, a group of protesters attempted to enter the Parliament area but faced resistance from police. Some protesters also demanded the education minister’s resignation.
The government, however, decided to hold the July 13 examinations as scheduled in all education boards except the Chattogram board.
Despite the decision, many protesting students did not appear for the examinations, prompting the Dhaka Education Board to arrange the special retake.
