Journalist and fiction writer Ehsan Mahmud has been appointed director general of the July Uprising Memorial Museum.
The Public Administration Ministry issued a gazette notification on Wednesday (September 16), appointing him to the post on a one-year contractual basis.
According to the notification, the appointment was made under Section 12(2) of the July Uprising Memorial Museum Act, 2026, on the condition that he relinquish any other profession, business or employment with any government, semi-government or private organisation.
His contractual appointment will take effect from the date he joins the post.
Meanwhile, Joint Secretary Mohammad Kamruzzaman, who had been serving as acting director general of the museum, has been appointed member-director of the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC).
His service has consequently been placed under the Ministry of Agriculture.
