The government has issued a gazette notification appointing 40 more candidates who were left out of the initial appointment list for the 49th special Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination.

The notification was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday night, October 5, following the completion of police verification and other required procedures.

The candidates have been appointed to the Bangladesh Civil Service (General Education) cadre.

Earlier, 611 candidates were appointed through a gazette issued on September 30.

The Public Service Commission had initially recommended 668 candidates.

However, three candidates failed to submit the required certificates and eight did not appear for medical examinations, reducing the number under consideration to 657.

Of them, 611 were appointed in the first gazette, leaving 46 candidates pending.

The latest gazette appoints 40 of those 46 candidates, while the remaining six have not been included in the appointment list.

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed had earlier said that no candidate would face discrimination based on political identity, while stressing that police verification was a mandatory part of the appointment process.
