The ongoing crisis in the Middle East has forced Bangladesh to raise fuel prices, said State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists on Monday (September 21).
The conflict in the Middle East has put pressure on international fuel prices and transportation costs. Rising security risks along key shipping routes have also created uncertainty over fuel supplies.
Earlier, the Energy Division said there was no immediate risk of a fuel supply shortage in Bangladesh. However, it warned that a prolonged conflict in the Middle East could further push up international fuel prices and transportation costs.
