Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor has reportedly stepped away from the much-anticipated Dhoom 4, with sources claiming the actor was unconvinced by the film’s script despite multiple rounds of discussions.
According to industry sources, Kapoor had been in talks to lead the next installment of the blockbuster Dhoom franchise, reportedly as the antagonist. However, the discussions are said to have ended after the actor decided not to proceed with the project.
A source familiar with the development said Kapoor has begun meeting writers and directors to explore other film opportunities.
“Ranbir is no longer doing Dhoom 4. He was not convinced by the script, and for him, the story has always been the deciding factor, even though Dhoom is one of India’s biggest film franchises,” the source said.
However, trade sources offered a different account of the project’s status, saying the script is still under development and that no casting decisions have been finalized.
According to them, reports linking Kapoor to the film were premature, as the production has yet to lock the screenplay or announce its cast officially.
Despite the differing accounts, sources close to the development maintain that Kapoor is no longer associated with the project and that Yash Raj Films will likely consider other actors once the script is finalized.
Kapoor, meanwhile, remains focused on a busy release schedule. He is preparing for the release of Ramayana, which is expected to hit theatres during the Diwali festival, followed by Love & War, slated for release around India’s Republic Day.
Neither Kapoor nor Yash Raj Films has officially commented on the reports regarding Dhoom 4. Until an official announcement is made, the future cast of the highly anticipated sequel remains uncertain.
