Yash-led Toxic has moved past the Rs 200 crore mark at the Indian box office, with the film recording a net collection of Rs 214.10 crore after five days in theatres. The film added an estimated Rs 23 crore on its first Sunday, according to figures cited from trade tracker Sacnilk.
The film’s India gross stood at Rs 255.95 crore, while its worldwide gross collection reached Rs 285.20 crore, including Rs 2 crore from international markets.
The opening-day performance remains the strongest contributor to the total so far. Toxic began its theatrical run with Rs 101.10 crore in India. Its daily business then moderated, with collections estimated at Rs 37.65 crore on the second day, Rs 27.20 crore on the third and Rs 25.15 crore on the fourth.
The Rs 23 crore fifth-day figure came from 16,241 shows, indicating that the film’s post-opening trajectory has been considerably softer than its initial performance.
Hindi market sees lower collections
The film has also witnessed a decline in its Hindi-language business. The Hindi version reportedly opened with Rs 55 crore but contributed Rs 14 crore on the fifth day.
The change in daily collections will now determine whether Toxic can sustain its theatrical run beyond the extended opening period. Its current India net total has already taken it close to the lifetime business of Yash’s first KGF film.
Yash’s previous major theatrical benchmark came with the KGF franchise.
Released in 2018, KGF eventually earned Rs 228 crore net in India, according to the trade figures cited in the source material. Its reported production cost was around Rs 80 crore.
KGF Chapter 2 achieved a substantially higher total following its 2022 release. The film recorded a worldwide gross of Rs 1,215 crore, including Rs 1,000.85 crore from India and Rs 214.15 crore from overseas markets. Its India net stood at Rs 434.70 crore against a reported budget of Rs 100 crore.
Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups is directed by Geetu Mohandas and produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations.
The film was shot in Kannada and English and released with dubbed versions in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. Its ensemble cast includes Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth.
The film has received mixed responses from audiences and critics, with its content also becoming a subject of discussion on social media.
The immediate box-office focus is now on whether Toxic can stabilise its collections after the sharp drop from its Rs 101.10 crore opening day or see further moderation during the coming days.
