Two icons of Bangladesh’s 1990s band music scene, James and Hasan, are set to perform on the same stage after a long gap at a rock concert in Dhaka on October 23.
The concert, titled “Rock N Rhythm 5.0: No Limits in the Zone”, will take place at Carnival Arena in Jamuna Future Park in the capital.
Organised by Adventor Communications, the event will feature popular bands Nagar Baul, Ark, Warfaze, Aurthohin and Shunno. Guitarist Oni Hasan will perform both with Warfaze and in a solo set. A K Rahul is also scheduled to perform.
However, the reunion of James, frontman of Nagar Baul, and Hasan of Ark is expected to be a major attraction. Both singers have long enjoyed strong followings for their distinctive voices, songs and energetic stage performances. Their music also holds a special place in the memories of a generation of listeners.
The organisers said they had obtained the necessary administrative permissions for the event. Advance tickets went on sale on Monday through Tickify.live, with prices set at Tk 999.
The Rock N Rhythm concert series began in 2022, followed by its second and third editions in 2023 and the fourth in 2024. The organisers are preparing to stage the fifth edition on a larger scale.
The event aims to strengthen connections between Bangladesh’s rock and metal musicians and their audiences. The participation of several popular bands, alongside James and Hasan, has raised expectations for this year’s concert.
