Ahmed Shahriar Reza Dip, a friend of former Air Force officer KM Tahsif Sauri, has been placed on a fresh three-day remand in a murder case over Sauri’s death.

On Tuesday, a Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court granted the remand after police sought seven more days for questioning.

Dip was produced before the court after completing his previous four-day remand.

The investigation officer argued that further interrogation was necessary to uncover the motive behind the killing, identify other suspects and recover evidence.

Police cited eight reasons for seeking further remand, including examining CCTV footage, analysing mobile phone call records and investigating Dip’s movements and communications on the night of the incident.

According to the investigation, Tahsif was last seen with Dip and another suspect, Jerika Tasnim Disha, before his death. Police are also examining their movements at different locations and restaurants before the incident.

Tahsif’s body was recovered from the Turag River near Rajabari Ghat on October 28, a day after he went missing.

Dip was initially placed on a four-day remand on October 31.

Disha was also remanded for four days on November 1 in connection with the case.
