Three more children have died with measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, as infections continue to rise sharply.
According to a press release issued on Saturday (August 1) by the Health Directorate’s control room, 1,085 new measles cases were reported during the same period.
The statement said 751 patients were identified as suspected measles cases in the last 24 hours. Since March 15, the total number of suspected cases has reached 128,310.
Meanwhile, 121 cases were confirmed in the past day, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 16,180 since mid-March. Over the same period, 111,674 suspected patients required hospitalization, while 107,367 have recovered and been discharged.
In terms of fatalities, three children died with suspected measles in the last 24 hours. Since March 15, a total of 744 children have died with suspected measles symptoms. However, no deaths were recorded among confirmed cases in the past day. The total number of confirmed measles deaths stands at 96.
Health officials continue to monitor the situation closely as the outbreak shows no immediate signs of slowing.
