Seven assistant police superintendents and 49 police inspectors, a total of 56 senior police officers, have been sent on compulsory retirement from government service.
The information was disclosed in two separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday (August 14) morning.
According to the notifications, 49 police officers currently serving in the Bangladesh Police have completed 25 years in government service. They have been retired in the public interest under Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018.
The 49 police inspectors were serving in various districts, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Special Branch (SB), Railway Police and other units of the police.
In a separate notification, seven officers holding the rank of assistant superintendent of police (ASP) were also retired under the same law.
They are—ASP Nure Alam Siddiqui of the Dhaka RAB Headquarters; DMP Tejgaon Division Assistant Commissioner (Patrol) Md. Nurul Mottakin; Assistant Superintendent of Police of Matiranga Circle in Khagrachhari Kazi Wazed Ali; Assistant Superintendent of Police of Galachipa Circle in Patuakhali Md. Syeduzzaman; ASP of RAB-2 in Mohammadpur, Dhaka, Md. Golam Kibria; ASP of Dhaka Reserve Range Force (RRF) Mohammad Mizanur Rahman; and Assistant Superintendent of Police of Sirajganj district Md. Rabiul Islam.
The notifications said the officers concerned would receive retirement benefits in accordance with the rules. The orders, issued in the public interest, will take immediate effect.
