Religious Affairs State Minister Mohammad Shamim Kaiser Lincoln has said his ministry will move forward in line with the roadmap and clear policy guidelines set by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for state reform.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists at the Secretariat on Sunday (23 August).
The state minister said the government would take swift steps to resolve any issues that have stalled.
“If any work remains stalled, we will take initiatives to resolve it as quickly as possible. We will move forward in accordance with the roadmap and policies provided by the prime minister for running the state,” he said.
Lincoln said the Ministry of Religious Affairs would make every effort to ensure that people of all faiths and viewpoints can freely express themselves and practise their beliefs.
“Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony. Everyone’s cooperation is needed to build a happy, prosperous and harmonious Bangladesh,” he said.
The state minister also stressed the importance of strengthening communication with Islamic scholars, saying greater engagement could help resolve misunderstandings and prevent confusion.
He said he would also meet religious leaders and spiritual figures from faiths other than Islam.
“Religious harmony can be strengthened through mutual communication and dialogue,” Lincoln said, adding that the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the country’s religious values are built around the coexistence of respected scholars representing different viewpoints.
He said reaching out to leaders and religious figures from all faiths was also part of his responsibility.
