A joint director of Bangladesh Bank was found hanging at a residence in Chattogram’s Halishahar area on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Chhaydur Rahman, 55, a joint director of Bangladesh Bank.
Police recovered his body from a residence in the Ramna Residential Area of North Agrabad under Halishahar Police Station shortly after 9pm.
Halishahar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Zainal Abedin Mondal said no one was present at the house when police arrived.
Family members informed police, who then went to the residence and recovered the body.
Police initially suspect that Chhaydur may have died by suicide, although the exact circumstances surrounding his death have not yet been established.
Police said they were speaking with family members as part of the investigation.
