The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has instructed all secondary-level teachers to complete an online course on cybersecurity and obtain certificates by September 30.
The training, launched with technical support from UNICEF, aims to strengthen teachers’ professional skills and promote a safer digital environment for students and educational institutions.
According to a DSHE notice issued Tuesday, all teachers working at secondary-level institutions must complete the interactive online course within the deadline. No physical attendance at a training centre is required.
The course is available through the online platform designated by the National Academy for Educational Management (NAEM). Teachers can register or log in using their Professional Development Management System identification numbers.
The course consists of six modules. In addition to completing the online lessons, teachers must conduct a classroom activity involving students as part of the sixth module. They are required to submit photos or videos of the activity through a designated link on the online platform.
Teachers who successfully complete all six modules and the required classroom activity will be able to download their certificates online. The certificates will carry the signatures of the director generals of DSHE and NAEM.
DSHE said school and college heads have been asked to provide necessary support to teachers to ensure completion of the training within the stipulated timeframe.
The initiative comes as the use of digital tools in education continues to expand, increasing the need for teachers to develop practical knowledge of online safety, data protection and responsible technology use.
