Two killed by trains in Rajbari

Two people, including an unidentified woman, were killed in separate train-related incidents in Rajbari, police said.

The victims were identified as Shakib, 30, son of Rafiqul Islam of Chhaliyabadpur village in Banaripara upazila of Barishal, and an unidentified woman.

According to police and local sources, the woman was killed after being struck by a train in the Kuti Panchuria area late Monday night. The name of the train involved could not immediately be confirmed.

In a separate incident, locals spotted Shakib’s body beside the railway tracks in the Boro Lakshmipur area on Tuesday morning and informed police. Officers later recovered the body. He was reportedly killed after being struck by the Sundarban Express.

Officer-in-Charge of Rajbari Government Railway Police (GRP) Station Md Mizanur Rahman confirmed the deaths, saying Shakib’s identity had been established while efforts were underway to identify the woman.

The police are taking legal steps, and the process of filing unnatural death cases over both incidents is underway.
