Prime Minister’s Political Adviser and BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan was admitted to Evercare Hospital Dhaka on Wednesday morning following medical advice, family members and party sources said.
The veteran BNP leader is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital cabin under close medical supervision.
According to his family, Nazrul Islam Khan was admitted after physicians recommended further evaluation and treatment. They requested prayers from people across the country for his speedy recovery.
Nazrul Islam Khan returned to Bangladesh on June 25 after receiving treatment for multiple health complications at the Singapore General Hospital in Singapore.
He is now receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital under the supervision of senior consultant Dr Abu Zafar Mohammad Saleh, who is monitoring his condition.
BNP Media Cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan said the physicians attending to Nazrul Islam Khan have advised party leaders, activists and well-wishers not to visit him at the hospital in view of his current health condition.
“The doctors have requested everyone to refrain from visiting him for the time being so that he can receive uninterrupted treatment and adequate rest,” Sayrul said.
Nazrul Islam Khan is one of the BNP’s senior-most policymakers and currently serves as the Prime Minister’s Political Adviser while remaining a member of the party’s Standing Committee. He has long been regarded as a key figure in Bangladesh’s opposition politics and has held several important responsibilities within the party over the decades.
