Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has set his sights on the Champions League as his top priority this season, with the teenage star eager to add Europe’s biggest club trophy to his growing list of achievements.

Yamal has already won the World Cup with Spain and La Liga with Barcelona. Now, he wants the major honour still missing from his collection.

Barcelona open their European campaign at home to Feyenoord on Wednesday, giving Yamal an early opportunity to make an impact in the competition he sees as his next major target.

Barcelona have not won the Champions League since 2015, when Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suárez inspired the club to European glory. They reached the semi-finals in 2025 under Hansi Flick but were eliminated in the quarter-finals last season.

Yamal, who is also among the nominees for the Ballon d’Or, says he remains hungry for more success despite his remarkable achievements at such a young age.

Flick shares that ambition and believes Barcelona have the quality to challenge for the title, although he stressed that success will require consistency throughout a demanding campaign.

The German coach also expects Yamal to have a major influence, praising his ability to produce game-changing moments and his freedom to express himself on the pitch.

Elsewhere, Liverpool host Atletico Madrid at Anfield in one of the opening round’s headline fixtures. Liverpool beat Burnley 2-0 in their latest league outing after two successive draws, while Atletico enter the tie following a 3-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao.

Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain face Slovan Bratislava, while last season’s runners-up Arsenal begin their campaign against Napoli.

For Barcelona, though, the mission is clear: end an 11-year wait for Champions League glory. And Yamal is determined to help lead the charge.
